I had the pleasure of photographing the Hudy Family just recently. They came to my studio, which is located at the Harvester Center here in Batavia, N.Y., and as you can imagine, it was a little scary for their daughter who's almost 9 months old. A new environment, new face, and she's just at that age where stranger danger is a big deal. Luckily, Mom and Dad remembered to bring some "lovies". One was a peek-a-boo elephant, while the other was a ukulele. She LOVED having the ukulele. It helped her forget that we were taking photos and made her more comfortable. I cannot stress it enough, the importance of bringing items from home that help your littles feel safe. What would you rather have, a photo of your little one happy and content with a ratty, well loved lovey, or one of them with snot and tears running down their face? I know which one I'd choose.
Have a look at this beauty. Doesn't she have the best eyes?!
